{Almost} Wordless Wednesday

My baby knows the Pledge of Allegiance!  She said it all the way through the first time; this time she got a little distracted by the tv, but still...the pledge!

File this under:  things I would never have dreamed they could learn at this age.

  1. Awesome!!!

I, too, am amazed at what our girls know / can recite at this age. Sometimes we can read a new book literally 2 or 3 times, and they're "reading" it to themselves, verbatim.

My girlfriend remarked that (at least with books), they're "saving it for later". As adults, we don't have to memorize things, as we can just read whatever we want. I don't know if there's any scientific basis for what she said, or if it's just a neat story...but it does make sense on some level that memorization is a way of compensating for not being able to read.

    Love it!
